I was at Champps and they had a karoke night. Needless to say, stories like this start out with me being pretty hammered, and that night was no different. I saw the talent around me and I was like, 'I got this.' Why was I so anxious to sing in front of strangers with a voice like tires screeching in front of a stray dog? Well, they were giving out a hundred bucks for the best male, female, and random.
After a strong, heart wrenching rendition of "Never Tear us Apart" by INXS, I followed it up with a sexy hip gyrating performance of the classic "DO ME" by Bell Biv Devoe. The crowd was going nuts! It was the performance that won me a cool hundred bux. Personally, I think they rigged it for me to win as she pulled the "random" ticket and then destroyed the evidence by ripping it right up. Thanks you dreadlock wearing waitress!

Fast forward to last night. Nearly three years after my last visit to Champps for Karoke. Same scenario. And you guessesd it. Big Rakafella put on a show again! yezzir! Another $100 bux! Went to my go-to song of INXS, but I mixed it up and did Cover Girl by my boys NKOTB, and then finished the night off wiht my finale of Usher's Burn. This is a lesson that it's not just about the song. You gotsta bring the show!
But this reinforfeces that we all should embrace our creative sides and outgoing behavior to pursue these outlets. Stay well rounded and keep an edge to your creativity and talents. mine is the stage. I love the spotlight and will try to find new avenues for being a Rak Star.
