Marathons

I'm rewriting this.  Okay.  We all need to run Marathons.  But not necessarily the ones where your nipples bleed unless you bandage them down while running in ugly New Balances with 1980's color schemes.  No.  Marathons in the sense of taking a long term goal and doing something each day to get closer to accomplishing it.  It may take a week, it may take a year, it may take a decade.  For me, my marathon is getting into shape.  My goal is to lose over 60 pounds.  That's a lot.  Things that don't weigh 60 pounds:  A spare tire.  A cooler full of beers with ice.  A midget.  Baby ponies.  You get my drift, it's a lofty goal that will take time.  I can't wait for the finish line of this marathon, but it's the journey I am cherishing as well.  I've lost to date almost 20 pounds and the difference it's made is amazing.  Amazing.  I can bend a bullet and shoot around hanging beef in a butcher's freezer.  I can hear the sun set.  I can sense fear in small animals.  Cows milk me to get calcium for their bones.  While you're reading this, I've erased it and re-wrote it right before your eyes.  Check the first line if you don't believe me.  So yes, I'm seeing a little bit of success...
