Really found this quite amusing. In related stories, last night I spent all night talking in an English accent at a bar. How fun is having an accent while out on the town? Really fun. Let me break the shit down.
Scenario: You are out in a bar and you are a normal American Fella.
The percentage of people who don't give a damn about what you say is about 98%. Bartenders count for the 2%.
If you are attractive: add 20%.
If you are socially engaging/charming: add 5%
Add accent: 50% Yes, 50%!!!
So if you're like me, Attractive (shut up, it's my blog), Socially Engaging, AND add an English accent...you could have had the attention of 78% of the people there. How's the math work out? Here you go:
The norms: 50% of the bar is "on your team" so I'll say 2/5ths are probably going to be attracted to you if you are a 7 or higher.
Socially engaging only adds 5% because you're at a bar, everyone is pretty much there to get hammered and seen. You gotta find the right timing and chemistry, but putting yourself out there will get you 5% attention rate.
But why so high a capture rate with an accent? Because accents are cool, and develop questions in an innocent bystander's head. They're having a conversation about you to themselves in their head just because you drop the first letter of every word! Hello Love becomes "ello ove!"
For example...she hears my fake English accent...and her brain goes:
1. Was that an accent?
2. Is that real?
3. What accent is that?
4. He sounds like Jude Law. I love me some Jude Law. I think he kinda looks like Jude Law's Asian Cousin.
5. What's he talking about?
6. I want to know, I bet you he's an amazing kisser
7. Screw his ring, I need to get's me some English Asian Sexiness
True story, happens all the time. God Save the Queen.
